Final Fantasy X
I challenge you: if you cannot beat me, you'll never beat Sin. How to get to Remiem Temple In order to reach the Temple, you must have mastered the first Chocobo Training exercise. Remember when you entered the Calm Lands for the first time? You were on top of a hill and the rest of the Calm Lands were down the hill. Go up the hill again and with your Chocobo, ride to the East until you come to the edge. Examine the yellow Chocobo Feather lying on the ground. Your Chocobo will leap over the abyss, and you can continue towards the East to get to Remiem Temple.
What is Remiem Temple? Remiem Temple is an old abandoned Temple, the only remaining sign of a pre-war city in the Calm Lands nowadays. There are no living people in Spira that visit this temple anymore. The only inhabitants of the Temple are the unsent Summoner Belgemine and the Fayth of the Aeon, the Magus Sisters. The Temple is a very large and ornate structure, which was once bustling but became forgotton after had torn the earth asunder with the last of its strength combatting High Summoner Gandof. It is surrounded by the same mountain rage that Mount Gagazet belongs to.
What to do here? There are three things you can do in Remiem Temple. You can of course talk and fight with Belgemine, but you can also do a little side-quest to obtain the Aeon, the Magus Sisters. The last thing you can do here is take a part in the Chocobo Challenge here. The Chocobo Challenge To the left of the Temple (seen from front), there's a Sphere on the ground and close by an Al Bhed Primer. The Sphere tells you the following: "Chocobo's come to this forgotten Temple to test each other's speed and skill. You, who are listening to this, you have been accepted as a true rider. It is a Chocobo custom that one must have a rider to challenge the champion Chocobo that stands near this Sphere. Mount the bridled Chocobo waiting on the opposite side of the temple. Once you are astride the challenger, the race will begin!"
Walk to the other side of the Temple, where your Chocobo will be waiting. In order to start the race, talk to the Chocobo. The Chocobo tune will begin and you'll see a split screen with you and your Chocobo on the right side and the Champion Chocobo on the left side, both getting ready. A countdown will be heard and the race will begin!
Your main goal is to reach the finish line before the Champion Chocobo does. In the maze, there are a total of 6 chests which you can open. If you open one of the chests, some time will be lost, but after opening the chest the Chocobo will fly to another point, sometimes a short cut. Remember that you still must finish before the other Chocobo does! If you reach the finish line first, you'll be rewarded with the Cloudy Mirror. This is a very important item, especially if you want to acquire the Legendary Weapons. When you obtain it, a window will pop up, telling you the following: "This item opens ancient seals hidden throughout Spira. It seems to have lost its power, but there might be a way to restore it." Read more about this in the Legendary Weapons section. Here is the list with prizes that you'll obtain for finishing before the other Chocobo does and with the number of opened chests:
If you achieve a particular result several times, each success will be rewarded with a Potion. Unfortunately, it's not possible to touch all six chests and still reach the finish line first. Apart from the chests which you'll find in the maze, you'll also find numerous brightly-coloured rods. Keep away from those rods, because each time you touch one, a chest will be deducted from your final result. Take a look at the map below to find out the best route.
Have fun with this little mini-game, the rewards are worth the effort. Plus, personally, I think riding a Chocobo is fun! And it's nice to give the other champion Chocobo a worthy opponent, right?
Challenge Belgemine for Aeon battles You'll find Belgemine waiting for you in the Great Hall of the Temple, where you'll have another chance to fight all of her Aeons. However, you can only take on Yojimbo, Anima and the Magus Sisters once you have acquired these Aeons yourself. View Belgemine's profile here for more info on her when you earlier encountered her.
Belgemine welcomes Yuna and Yuna asks where they are. "Remiem Temple. Once a great religious center in the Calm Lands, lost after the battle with Sin. " Tidus responds surprised, "And this is your home? What? You got something against company?" Belgemine laughs slightly, "It's a long story. Easier perhaps to show you." Pyreflies appear around her body and Tidus responds, "You're dead, too?" Then she informs them of her important task before being send to the Farplane for eternal peace, "Don't send me just yet. There is still one thing left for me to do here. With the help I can give, a young Summoner might just be able to defeat Sin. Well, Yuna? I challenge you: if you cannot beat me, you'll never beat Sin." She'll heal your Aeons before the battle as you're used to.
If you ignored or missed Belgemine during your journey before, she'll also present you with the Summoner's Soul and the Aeon's Soul here. Refer to the Aeons Info page for the meaning of these items. You can defeat her Aeons as many times as you please and every time, you'll receive a nice prize. Take a look at the following table to see your prizes: Belgemine's Aeons
After defeating all of her Aeons (so after defeating the Magus Sisters), you'll get the option to send Belgemine to the Farplane for eternal peace. Yuna: " Thank you! Perhaps you'll teach me again someday?" And Belgemine responds, "That's not possible. You have already surpassed your father. There is nothing more I can teach you. My work here on Spira is done. Time for me to go." Auron tells Yuna to send her. If you do, you'll be rewarded with the Moon Sigil, which you'll need to upgrade Yuna's Legendary Weapon. Refer to the Legendary Weapon section for more info on this. If you fell like postponing the sending of Belgemine, you'll have to take on and defeat her Magus Sisters once again.
Remiem Fayths With two key items, Belgemine's Flower Sceptre and the Blossom Crown from the Monster Arena, you can gain access to the Temple's Fayth chamber. In this chamber, Yuna will find the Magus Sisters trio of Aeons. Refer to the Aeons section - The Magus Sisters for more information on obtaining them. If you go back to the chamber later, the three Fayths will present you with a Defence Sphere. |
