Ultima Weapon
On this page, you can see all of the details about the Ultima Weapon Quest in
the Deep Sea Research Center to obtain the GF Eden. First let us look at a table with this side quest's details.

After Completing the Bahamut Quest
When you have defeated Bahamut, a large opening appears where the core once was. However, you can't go down, so leave the Research Center by boarding the Ragnarok
and then enter the Conference Room. Now return to the Research Center and you'll see that not only the Core has been destroyed, but now, there's a passage down to
the lower levels and a Save Point. Save and head into the Underwater part of the Research Center.

Your goal is to work your way down to the bottom floor by using the remaining 20 Units of Reserve Steam Power (RSP) to open the various airlocks. However, that's not
as easy as it sounds. You will find the nastiest of enemies here and both the Enc-Half and Enc-None abilities will not work here. You have to fight your way through
all of the enemies to get to the bottom. When you reach the bottom, you must have 10 Units left in order to start the final control panel. There are actually two
options to ensure that you have 10 Units left when reaching the bottom: one with Zell in your party and one without Zell in your party. Refer to the table below to
see both options.

Use the monitor on the left under the stairs and spend 4 Units to open the Steam Room. Inside, you can use the Esuna

Inspect the machinery to the right of the levers and Zell will suggest that he can handle the machine. Select the

It doesn't really matter which option you choose, you will be able to reach the bottom floor with the required 10 RSP.
What I like to do is using either option with three weak characters and make my way down, once at a Save Sphere, I go all the way up again and select
the three strongest players that I want to use for the upcoming fight. Why? Since this is a very good training area, you will have to fight a whole
lot of random encounters, all strong enemies, which is a really good boost to level up. One of the best ways is using Quistis' Blue Magic Degenerator,
which will wipe out the enemies with one blast. If you don't wanna use her or she's one of your strongest characters, here are some other tips to
defeat the enemies here.
Tonberry King's LV Down ability can be really helpful, as are Recover from Leviathan and Revive from Alexander. There are a lot of Ruby Dragons here and
other difficult enemies. With the LV Down, you can weaken them. Also, Junction 100 Blinds to somebody's Status Attack if you have them, it'll help out
greatly when fighting Iron Giants and Grendels. Also, be sure to have plenty of Full-Life, Curaga and Phoenix Downs. If you want, you can use Selphie's
Limit Break Full-Heal to heal all of your characters at once if she's with you. You can use Aura spells or Aura stones to get access to your Limit Breaks
at once. If you don't have these, but you do have a lot of Blue Dragon Cards, every 4 of the Blue Dragon Cards will refine into a Fury Fragment, and that
can be refined into 2 Aura Stones or 5 Aura spells. Make sure you save some for the battle at the bottom. Or refine Steel Pipes into Aura Stones.
 |
Make your way through the excavation site and at the bottom you will find another control panel. Save your game at the hidden Save Point and use the 10
RSP to activate the final control panel. Inside, you'll face a very tough Boss: Ultima Weapon. |
Preparing for the Fight
If you already have the Lionheart Sword, it will help greatly in this battle. I have finished off Ultima Weapon without it, but with it, it'll be easier. Also, make
sure you still have enough Full-Life and Curaga spells. You can also refine the Gilgamesh Card to get 10 Holy Wars, which makes all party members invisible. I have
never used it, since I like to collect the Cards, I mainly use Rinoa's Limit Break often until she uses Invisible Moon, which does the same as Holy Wars. You also
can refine the Angelo Card to get 100 Elixirs, but again I make sure I have the same thing another way. By the way, if you do want to use the Gilgamesh Card but you
don't have it, you must get it from the CC Group member King, so refer to the CC Group section. If you have Initiative, set it up
for one of your characters so you know you get the first strike in the battle. Have Doomtrain Junctioned to whomever has the highest Compatibility with him, same for
Jumbo Cactuar if he's high enough in levels. Lastly, it'll help if you have enough of the following spells: Triple, Haste, Aura, Curaga and Meltdown.
The Battle: Ultima Weapon
 |
Ultima Weapon is a very, very strong enemy. He has one-hit skills and powerful magic spells that attack the entire party simultaneously.
Start off by using either a Holy War if you have one and casting Haste on the entire party. Then summon Doomtrain, but don't Boost him up though, as he
heals Ultima Weapon. He will cast Vit 0, which will make your attacks do far more damage. Then, make sure somebody draw's Eden, you don't want to win the
fight and then find out you forgot the main adjective: getting the strongest GF, Eden! Summon Cerberus to make sure all of your characters have the Triple spell
and if you have Aura spells or Aura stones, use them on the characters to have free use of Limit Breaks. The character with Jumbo Cactuar can summon him to deal
some nice damage and use Squall and Rinoa's Limit Breaks. If you're lucky, she might use Invisible Moon right away. Make sure you keep all of your characters in
good health, so heal them quickly. Good luck! |
 |
 |
You will get the Eden Card and an Ultima Stone for defeating Ultima Weapon. Now, you've defeated one of the weapons, and the second strongest enemy in the game! After
defeating Ultima Weapon you can exit the Deep Sea Research Center. Luckily, you won't have much troubles getting out, as the endless encounters have been taken away and
you will not have any for the trip to the fresh air! Save at the bottom and restore any character or GF that needs it. Take a sigh of relief and be happy that you
finished this hard Quest with a success!
