Final Fantasy VIII
Someone might not be there. Someone you love may disappear before your very eyes. It's tough when you live your life thinking
that way. But that's why I fight...
Quote by: Irvine, in Trabia Garden
Ifrit
 |
Ifrit will be the first GF you have to fight to actually have him available for summoning. Ifrit is part of the SeeD exam. Quistis will
take you to the Fire Cavern where you have to defeat Ifrit before you can take part in the SeeD Field Exam. It is stated in-game that long-term Junctioning
of Guardian Forces causes memory loss to the user, because the GF draw power from the same section of the mind that stores memories, so using them is not
without risks. Ifrit appears in many of the Final Fantasy games and it makes him kind of special, I think. He looks really strong and his element is
always fire. |
|
Since Ifrit is a Fire elemental Guardian Force, he is best used against enemies which have Fire as their weakness, so Ice elemental enemies. |
|
Location
Ifrit is the Boss of the Fire Cavern, and you have to fight him before you can take part in the SeeD Field Exam in Dollet. The cave
isn't big and it's a straight road to the end, where Ifrit is waiting.

Ifrit's Attack: Hell Fire
Hell Fire is a Fire elementary based attack and Ifrit will create a big ball of fire, bouncing it hard from high into the air onto the
enemies.

Useful Abilities
The HP-J ability Ifrit carries is very helpful, especially at the beginning of the game, since it'll allow one of your characters to
equip magic to HP, which will increase your total HP greatly. The Str Bonus ability is also very good if you use it while your characters are still at
low levels. Each time a character with the Str Bonus equipped levels up, the Str Bonus will increase that character's Strength by one point. If you
equip it long enough to a character, he or she will become really powerful! His F Mag-RF will let you refine items into Fire based magic and his Ammo-RF
will refine items into ammunition for Irvine's gun and certain ammo is used for Squall's sword.

History
Ifrit (イフリート Ifurīto) is a Fire-elemental summon which appears in several games in the
series. Like most re-appearing Summons, he changes his appearance in each game, but remains somewhat similar in each game although he curiously appears more
and more "beast-like" and less "humanoid" as the series evolves. In general, Ifrit has green-brown skin with long horns and claws, covered
by a simple kilt-like covering around his waist. In Arabian mythology, Ifrit (also spelled Efreet or Afreet, from Arabic عفريت
ʻIfrīt), is the name given to a class of Jinn (magical spirits also known as Djinn, Djinni and Genie) that embody fire. Though they could
live for thousands of years, they were not immortal, and if cut, they would "bleed" the fire running through their veins until it consumed their
bodies. Ifrit tends to be arrogant creatures, believing themselves to be greater than all other races because they came first into the world. They resent
humans for finding ways to magically harness their power and services, much to the Ifrits' chagrin (which is implied when challenging and defeating Ifrit in
Final Fantasy VIII). A famous story from the Koran goes that an Ifrit lent its services to King Solomon at one time, and one time only.
