Final Fantasy VIII
Selphie, let's go!
Quote by: Irvine
Bahamut
 |
Bahamut is an optional GF that you will only obtain when completing a Side-Quest. You have to find the Deep Research Center and
complete a dialogue with Bahamut with the right answers and fight him, before he joins your party. It is stated in-game that long-term Junctioning
of Guardian Forces causes memory loss to the user, because the GF draw power from the same section of the mind that stores memories, so using them
is not without risks. Bahamut is a really awesome looking GF if you ask me! He looks so huge and the way he performs his attack, just looks amazing.
He is a must have in your inventory, if not for the looks, then do it for the abilities he has! |
|
Bahamut's attack is non-elemental based and not that powerful. However, because of the long animation, you can easily boost up his power using the
Boost ability close to the maximum of 250. |
|
Location
Once you're in the possession of the airship, The Ragnarok in Disc 3, you can begin the search for the Deep Research Center. I'll
help you out, it's in the southwest corner of the World Map. Fly there with the Ragnarok and search the area, you'll soon spot the Deep Sea Reserch
Center. Inside, you must answer Bahamut's questions correctly and then defeat him in a battle before he'll join your party. Refer to the
Side-Quest Deep Sea Research Center for more info.

Bahamut's Attack: Mega Flare
Bahamut's attack is non-elemental based and isn't that powerful on its own. However, since the animation is long, you can easily
boost up his power using the Boost ability close to the maximum of 250. That makes the attack worth it, right? He appears out of the sky and he
prepares for the Mega Flare in the air, which he'll unleash at the enemies.

Useful Abilities
Obviously, the Ability x4 makes getting Bahamut worth the effort. It'll allow you to equip four GF abilities on a character instead
of the normal two. The Rare Item ability is also good to have if you're into collecting absolutely everything the game has to offer. It's also nice to
equip a second person with the Mug ability to steal some special items from the enemies and deal damage to them at the same time.

History
Bahamut (バハムート Bahamūto), sometimes known by his epithet "The Dragon King", is
one of the most popular Summons in the Final Fantasy games. He has appeared in several games, as well as having his own game, Bahamut Lagoon. He also
appeared as a boss in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, in addition to being the namesake for the Sky Fortress Bahamut in Final Fantasy XII.
His attack, Mega Flare, sometimes translated as Sun Flare, deals non-elemental magic damage which ignores defense and evasion. He is typically considered
the strongest among storyline summons and more often than not, the player must prove his/her worth by winning either against Bahamut himself, or, rarely,
another storyline boss. Bahamut (Arabic بهموت Bahamūt) originated as an enormous fish in ancient pre-Islamic
Arabian mythology. Upon Bahamut's back stands a bull with four thousand eyes, ears, noses, mouths, tongues and feet called Kujuta (also spelled
"Kuyutha"). Between each of these is a distance of a 500-year journey. On the back of Kujuta is a mountain of ruby. Atop this mountain is an
angel who carries six hells, earth, and seven heavens on its shoulders. In modern times the game Dungeons & Dragons is responsible for re-imagining
Bahamut as the king of dragons, a benevolent Platinum Dragon; the opposite of the malevolent Tiamat the five headed Chromatic Queen of Dragons.
