...
Quote by: Ward, after losing his voice
Funny Stuff
On this page, you'll find some of the funny things of Final Fantasy VIII. These are false items, funny secrets, free stuff or money or other weird and funny things.
I am sure there are a whole lot more of these things to be found in the game. I'd like to expand this list, so if you have anything to add, even if you're not sure
if it's good enough, please send an e-mail to info@bar2ayunie.com and your will be credited for it! Thanks in advance!
Enjoy the funny comments below!

Description |
| No Timber Manic |
While exploring Zell's home, you can find a practical joke. After checking the magazine stack in the living room, you'll find an old copy of
Timber Manics. In actuality, you haven't found anything at all, but this is your reward for being thorough in your searches. |
| Oomba Moomba |
In D-District Prison, you are given a choice when Squall is tortured. A couple of Moomba's might appear to give you valuable items or create
shortcuts on the prison floors. So be brave, stand your ground and fight for what is just. If you lack courage, lie or submit to authority, the Moomba's won't
appear. They keep calling "Laguna" to Squall. |
| Missile Base Control Panel Secret |
You can toy around a bit with the Control Panel in Galbadia's Missile Base. Choose to go to the Equipment inspection screen and you'll see
the equipment used by the Galbadian Army. Hold down both the
buttons and press up or down on the control
pad. The scene will switch to either a dancing Galbadian Soldier or Elite Soldier. Weird but funny! |
| Free Potion |
When in Timber, speak to the guy on the bridge that overlooks the train tracks and he'll eventually give you a free Potion. Any time you see
him thereafter, he'll give you more free Potions as long as Rinoa or Quistis is in your party! Nice! |
| Edea's Letter |
You can make a little extra Gil with Edea's Letter, which you'll receive at the Orphanage when looking for the White SeeD Ship. Take it to a
shop and you can sell it for 125 Gil. It isn't much, but it can help if you're short on cash. Return to Edea's House and speak with her again. She'll scold you
and then hand over another letter. You can continue to sell her letters and get new ones to your heart's content. Granted this isn't a great money maker, but I
found it hilarious! |
| Hidden City |
After your visit to the White SeeD Ship, Squall will cross the bridge to Esthar with Rinoa on his back in order to find a medicine that will
save her. He walks for hours, telling private stuff to somebody who cannot reply and when he gets to the Great Salt Lake, the rest of the party is already there!
Then later, when they reach the end of the path, it seems to be a dead end. Watch the background, notice the shape that is being outlined? There is the hidden
city Esthar. Have Squall search the background to find a secret entrance in the air and Estar will suddenly appear! |
| Disappearing Old Key |
Inside the Lunatic Pandora with Laguna, he finds two Old Keys: one on the lower level near the ladder and one at the first intersection.
However, right after finding them, Laguna instantly loses the Key's! Even though the Keys are lost, there will still be an effect, so you need to find Key's that
you'll loose anyway in order for something to happen! Right.... |
| Pushups Zell |
When you are in Disc 1 at the Galbadian Garden, find the area where students doing pushups. When you are leaving, go back to that hallway and
you should see Zell also doing pushups. |
| Mad Mother Chocobo |
In Winhill, you can get two free items by grabbing Chicobo's (little Chocobo's) at the Chocobo Crossing. You'll have to run around like a
maniac and be sure to act quickly to get one. When you caught one you'll receive a Phoenix Pinion and a Gysahl Green. However, if you grab too many Chicobo's,
the Mother Chocobo will appear madly for disturbing her children! Afterwards, you won't be able to catch any more Chicobo's. |
| Weird Chocobo Dance |
After solving the puzzles and collecting the hidden items in the previous six Chocobo forests, you can head for the Chocobo Sanctuary. When
all six Chocobo's are there, they will perform a special dance for you. Speak with the Chicobo afterwards and it will reward you with the Chicobo Card. Speak
with it a second time and it will give you some Gyshl Greens, but it will also steal 600 Gil! Refer to the Chocobo section for more info. |
| Traffic Jam |
When you first enter Deling City as Laguna, go to the hotel, then immediately leave. There will be a traffic jam on all roads because Laguna
parked in the middle of the road. |
| Scared Cactuar |
At a certain point while fighting the GF Jumbo Cactuar, you may see a message stating that he is hesistating. This means that the GF is
thinking about running away. Refrain from attacking the GF, with Leviathan being the exception. You must quickly finish off the GF with your strongest attacks;
if not, you're forced to fight it all over again once it runs away! |
